Who We Are

First off, FPC Westbank cares about one thing more than anything else: Jesus Christ. We are a family of individuals who have found hope and life in Jesus and simply want others to experience that same freedom.

Where we’re from

FPC Westbank began in the home of Howard Lambert of Belle Chasse, LA, in 1958. Rev. John R. Culpit pioneered the early days of FPC and eventually purchased property in Gretna, LA, where we constructed our first church building. During this time, we were known as the First Pentecostal Church of Gretna. Rev. Culpit pastored this church for the next 5 years, followed by George Rowell.

On Easter Sunday in 1967, Rev. F.L. Sartin was elected pastor of the church. In 1978, Pastor Sartin purchased 19 acres of land on Ames Blvd. right here in Marrero. A new church building and school were constructed in 1979 and by 1981 the property was paid for in full! In 1986, Rev. Michael K. Sartin was elected pastor and, together with his wife Sandy, continue to serve the people who call FPC home.

Where we’re going

The theme that has continued throughout our story is that we are a church for the people of New Orleans. We believe the best is yet to come for our church and our city, and we invite you to join in on what God is doing. See for yourself how excited church can be when the focus is simple and people are free to go after God with passion!
